PURPOSE:To enhance mass production economy while maintaining initial performance by providing at least one piece of hygroscopic woven cloth on the side of a material to be molded and interlockingly integrating short chemical fibers. CONSTITUTION:A required quantity of short chemical fibers 22 such as polyester are placed on a hygroscopic woven cloth 21 such as polyamide multifilament yarns or the like, and interlockingly integrated by required needling to form a piece of filter cloth 20. At that time, the surface 23 on the hygroscopic woven cloth 21 side works as a contact face with a slurry-like raw material, and calendering is carried out on said surface. Thus, being manufactured without using filter paper, a filter cloth with initial performance available as heretofore can be prepared less expensively.
