PURPOSE:To improve weatherability and adhesiveness by forming a plasma- polymerized film having a specific refractive index by polymn. of a monomer of an org. compd. having a nitrile group. CONSTITUTION:The plasma-polymerized film is formed by polymn. of the monomer of the org. compd. having the nitrile group. The refractive index at 6,328Angstrom of this plasma-polymerized film is confined to 1.3-1.7. The compactness of the film is not obtainable and the shielding of moisture, etc., from a substrate 1 are not possible; in addition, the adhesiveness is insufficient if the refractive index is below 1.3. The hardness of the polymerized film increases and the adhesiveness thereof to a sputtered film, vapor deposited film, for example, intermediate layer 15 and protective layer 16, etc., installed in contact with the polymerized film is defective, if the refractive index exceeds 1.7.
