PURPOSE:To enable a printing-out to be conducted with the same layout with input data, by a method wherein, when the number of characters of one line of the input data is over the limit of the number of characters in the column direction of one sheet of paper, the input data is divided by every limited number of characters to be edited as data for another page. CONSTITUTION:A command designating the number of characters in the column direction is sent from a communication wire 101 and led to a set part 13 to be interpreted. The number of characters in the column direction to be printed out on one page is directed to a page division part 12 by a set output. Data sent out in order are sent to page buffers 14a, 14b, and 14c by the page division part 12 successively as 202-, 204-, and 205-according to the number of characters limited in the column direction to be stored. On the other hand, a square 301, which is a mark representing a line-feed, is sent to the page buffer 14c and then the data for the first line is completely received. Division page data 21a-21d stored in the page buffers 14a-14d are sent to a printing part 15 from the data 21a, and a printing-out transferring to the next line is carried out when the line feed mark comes out.
