PURPOSE:To attain the constitution of a miniature probe by constituting the profe with the vibrator of a transmission-receiving wave separation type which uses a single piezo-electric element whose poralization direction makes a required angle against a main surface. CONSTITUTION:A required pulse voltage is impressed on the terminals 2a and 2b of an electrode for wave-transmission 2, and the vibrator 1 is driven. A thickness longitudinal vibration is activated and an ultrasonic pulse irradiates in the direction of an z-axis from the main surface. In the case of wave-reception, the reflected wave of the radiated ultrasonic pulse is made incident on the main surface of the vibrator 1, and the vibrator is driven to a thickness direction. The electro motive force by the drive occurs between the terminals 3a and 3b of an electrode for wave reception 3. Since the poralization direction tilts theta against the vibration direction of the vibrator 1 by a wave-receiving pulse, the electromotive force equivalent to component force tilting by theta occurs in the electrode terminals for transmission and also in the electrode terminals for wave-reception. When selecting the value of theta, the size item of the vibrator 1, the area of the electrodes and the like to required values an electric impedance in which the vibrator 1 is viewed from the electrode terminals for wave transmission/ reception can be set to the optimum value. |
