PURPOSE:To improve windability, fixability and image characteristic by providing an elastic layer and resin layer as a release layer on a mandrel material of a heating roller and confining the sum of the heat resistances of the elastic layer and the release layer to <=2cm.sec.degree/calory. CONSTITUTION:A transfer body P having an unfixed toner image T is sandwiched between and conveyed by the heating roller 3201 and a press roller 3202 and the toner image T is fixed as a permanent image on the paper surface by the heat applied thereto from the heated roller 3201. The roller 3201 is formed by providing a heat-resistant elastic material such as silicone rubber on the outside peripheral face of the hollow cylindrical metallic roller mandrel consisting of aluminum, etc., and further, providing the heat-resistant elastic material layer consisting of PTFE, etc., as the release layer thereon. The sum of the heat resistances of the elastic layer and the release layer is confined to <=2cm.sec.degree/calory by adequately selecting the thicknesses of the elastic layer and the release layer. The sheet winding characteristic, fixability and image characteristic are thereby improved. |
