PURPOSE:To improve the durability, wear resistance, weatherability, corrosion resistance, etc., of a medium and to obtain the high reliability thereof by providing a specific film thickness distribution on a top coating layer. CONSTITUTION:The top coating layer is so formed that the thickness thereof is distributed to ti>to when the film thickness thereof at a radius di(mm) from the center on the inside diametral part side on a magnetic recording surface is designated as ti(mm) and the film thickness at the radius do(mm) from the center on the outside diameter part on the magnetic recording surface as to(mm). Then, generation of such an inconvenience that a liquid lubricating agent is moved to the outside circumference of a disk by the centrifugal force generated from long-term high-speed rotation is prevented. The recording medium having the excellent durability, wear resistance, weatherability, corrosion resistance, etc., of the medium is thus obtd.
