PURPOSE:To obtain conjugate fibers, capable of wet heat bonding and useful for producing non-woven fabrics, etc., by melt spinning, drawing and drying a specific ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and polypropylene with hot air so as to form part of the fiber surfaces from the copolymer. CONSTITUTION:(A) Ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer with an ethylene content (E mol%) within the range expressed by formula I, melt flow rate (MFR: EVOH) within the range expressed by formula II [measured according to JIS K7210 except the temperature, measuring temperature (T deg.C) is as follows. -1.8E+263<=T<1.06E+219 when E is 20<=E<35 and 200<=T<1.06E+219 when E is 35<=E<55] and >=98mol% saponification degree and (B) PP having a melt flow rate (MFR: PP) within the range expressed by formula III and a relationship among MFR of the components (A) and (B) and (MFR: PP) of the PP in formula IV at 70:30-30:70 conjugate ratio are melt spun at a temperature of <=(1.06E+219) deg.C applied to the component (A) while keeping the temperature at >(-1.8E+263) deg.C when E is 20<=E<35 and >=200 deg.C when E is 35<=E<55 so as to form part of the fiber surfaces from the component (A). The resultant fibers are then drawn at >=2 times and dried at <=140 deg.C with hot air to afford the aimed fibers. |
