PURPOSE:To rapidly carry out the cleaning of the surface of a roller with a simple operation by either differentiating the circumferential velocity of a pair of rollers which interposingly hold a conveyed sheet or rotating them in the mutually reverse direction. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 1 is turned off, a current fails to flow in a coil 5 and an iron core 6 is shifted in the E direction by means of a spring 7 and separated from gear 9. A roller 12A which is externally driven by means of a gear 13 drives a roller 12B, whereas, the gear 9 is idly rotated by means of a bearing 10. When the switch 1 is turned on, the iron core 6 is shifted in the F direction due to the coil 5 and brought into pressure contact with the gear 9, the rotation of which is transmitted to the shaft of the roller 12B via the iron core 6 and a shaft 8B, forcedly driving the roller 12B. The gear ratio is different between gears 11 and 9 causing the roller 12B to be driven at a different circumferential velocity from that of the gear 12A. Thereby, the cleaning of the rollers 12B and 12A can be simply carried out without using any chemical.
