PURPOSE:To eliminate a need for the intermediation of a third person in the case of looping back a telephone call by providing a means to store a callers telephone number, a means to transmit a message signal to a message displayer added to a telephone on the callee's side, and a means to call the caller by means of the stored caller's telephone number in an exchange. CONSTITUTION:In case a caller calls a telephone set TEL by using a multifunctional telephone set MFT and speaking with the opposite is impossible because there is no answer from the callee's telephone set TEL due to some a reason, if a loop back telephone request key is depressed, a bit of key information is transmitted to a common processer CP via a control line DL and a multifunctional telephone line circuit MFTC. The processor CP lets the caller's telephone number and the callee's telephone number corresponding to the callee's telephone number dialed by the caller be sotred in a memory MM, transmits a message signal to the message displayer ML added to the callee-side telephone set TEL, and controls to display the presence of a loop back telephone call request. Further, if the callee notices the loop back telephone call request displayed in the diaplayer ML and depresses a loop back telephone call key, the processor CP automatically calls the caller-side telephone set by using the caller's telephone number corresponding to the callee stored in the memory MM.
