To improve the connection between the shoe upper part and a shoe sole made of plastic or rubber, in particular made of a reaction foam on a polyurethane basis, which is formed on, in particular injected on this shoe upper part, that region (3) of a shoe upper part (2) clamped onto a last (1) on which the shoe sole is to be formed is subjected, before insertion into the casting mould, to a treatment with an energy-rich electric or electromagnetic field. To this end, the last (1) consists, at least in that part which supports the region (3) of the shoe upper part (2) to be connected to the shoe sole, of aluminium and is earthed. Provided along this region (3) is either a stationary basket electrode (6) or a circumferential electrode which is connected to a high voltage potential so that a spark discharge to the earthed last (1) takes place. As a result, there are formed in the region (3) on the surface, and partly also in the interior, free radicals which react chemically with the material of the shoe sole (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
