摘要 According to the prior art, helical compression springs with a varying wire cross-section are produced, inter alia, by a process in which a spring wire of constant cross-section is wound into a cylindrical spring body and the spring body is then ground externally and possibly internally to a conical shape. Because of the conical external shape, springs produced in this way do not use the full diameter of the installation space available and the conical grinding is relatively difficult and expensive. The spring according to the invention is formed by winding a spring wire to give a noncylindrical, for example waisted spring body and by subsequent cylindrical external grinding of this spring body. In the case of the spring according to the invention, the available diameter is used to the full by the turns of reduced cross-section, allowing their spring rate to be reduced to a greater extent. The grinding operation can be carried out economically, particularly by a centreless method.
