PURPOSE:To reduce time and electric power required for incineration by a method wherein after garbage is previously dehydrated by a dehydrator, the garbage is dried by irradiation with microwaves and then is burnt by receiving heat energy from a microwave heating element. CONSTITUTION:First, a garbage collector 6 is placed on a rotating disk 23 in a dehydrating vessel 22 and then the garbage is dehydrated by the rotation of the disk 23 after a cover 25 is closed. After the completion of dehydration, the garbage is placed in a cylindrical device 2 and a magnetron 18 is oscillated. Microwaves propagate in a waveguide 15 and penetrate through an insulator 5 with a low dielectric constant and through the collector 6 and then supplied into the device 2 as a metal cavity. The garbage in the collector 6 generates heat after absorbing the microwaves and then are dried. On the other hand, a microwave absorbing and heating element 8 generates heat on absorbing the microwaves. As the element 8 has columnar shape, the garbage in the collector 6 takes the form of surrounding the element and the garbage is ignited and burnt by this heat.
