A heat tranfer printing sheet comprises a substrate sheet and a heat transfer printing layer superposed thereon. The heat transfer printing layer includes a polyvinyl butyral resin having specific characteristics as a binder resin and a dye which is to be transferred to a heat transferable sheet upon being heated.
