Method for transferring filtered pulp (6) from the filter surface (1) of a disc filter into the collection tube (7) and a disc filter for applying the method. The filtered pump (6) is drained off from the filter surface (1) onto a surface which rotates collectively with the filter disc. The said rotating surface pushes, while it is rotating, the pulp (6) off to the top end of the collection tube (7). The pulp detachment area on the filter surfaces (1) in the disc filter is situated above the pulp collection area which rotates collectively with the filter discs.
