In a method of impedance transformation of a complex antenna impedance to a real impedance over a wide frequency range, test signals of adjustable frequency are generated in an adaption phase and the reflection factor is measured in each case. This results in mutually adjoining frequency intervals with uniform adjustment of the transformation elements of the adaption network interval by interval and reflection values below a predetermined maximum value. Parameter records unambiguously characterising the initial frequency of the intervals and the associated adjustment of the adaption network are stored. In the actual transmitting/receiving operation after termination of the adaption phase, a parameter record belonging to the instantaneous operating frequency or to the next-lower stored frequency is read out of the memory for adjusting the adaption network.
