With a deformation-regulating roll having a bearing ring (8) locked by means of a locking device (20) there is a chamber (13, 14) whose volume is varied in the process of adjustment. The chamber is connected to a source (119) of fluid via a shut-off valve (117, 118). A replenishment device (63, 64) is provided. This can operate such that the shut-off valve opens when the pressure in the chamber falls below a set limit value (G1, G2). In this way, it is possible to compensate for leakage losses. <IMAGE>
