Method of placing bulk materials on the bottom and/or the bank of bodies of water, in particular of canals, in which the bulk material is lowered from a floating body by means of a receiving device and is directly dumped over the subsoil from the receiving device, the bulk material in the receiving device being distributed roughly uniformly in a plane and being lowered in this distribution without segregation until directly above the subsoil and then being dumped simultaneously or in a desired sequence in surface sections.
