The invention relates to a vehicle wheel with a pneumatic tyre and with a rigid rim which has essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges, and with a pneumatic vehicle tyre which is attached by its beads on the radially inner side of the rim next to the rim flanges, furthermore having at least one single-component cover ring which fills the space on the axial inside of the tyre bead and which has a plurality of circumferential hollow chambers, a hollow chamber which faces the adjacent tyre bead serving to receive a compensation weight and, for this purpose, the outer wall of the cover ring which faces the tyre bead having a slotted opening at least in the region of the compensation weight. In order to improve the continued closed state of the slotted opening in all operating situations, it is proposed that locking means be located radially inside the slotted opening on the cover ring and/or on the tyre bead, the said locking means preventing the cover ring with the compensation weight coming out inadvertently. The locking means can be in particular a circumferential rib on the cover ring and a circumferential groove on the tyre bead for receiving this rib.
