PURPOSE:To easily search a defective cause and to adjust set data by stopping a decision operation when it is decided that an object pattern is defective and simultaneously holding a picture and picture feature data. CONSTITUTION:When the automatic/manual switching SW41 of a panel setting part 4 is set to an automatic position, an external decision start signal can be received, the decision is carried out synchronously with this signal and a result is outputted. At that time, when an adjusting mode NO/OFF SW42 is turned ON, the adjusting mode is obtained, the decision is started according to the decision start signal and when the decision result is not outputted but the decision result is defective (NG), the decision start signal is prohibited from being inputted by a decision start selecting circuit 5 and a pattern discriminating circuit 3 stops a decision thereafter. Accordingly, at the time of deciding the defect, the data of a picture memory 33 to the object pattern 1 and the data of a feature memory circuit 38 are held. Thereby, the result is compared with the set data of the information memories 6A-6D to easily clarify the defective cause.
