Method and apparatus for the drying of wet laundry

By means of a method and an apparatus for carrying out the method, wet laundry is dried in that the laundry is exposed, free of mechanical pressure, to a negative pressure which lowers the boiling temperature of the water to the temperature of the water to be evaporated. This purpose is served by a device, the container of which is designed to be self-sealing relative to the atmosphere under negative pressure. In this method, the laundry is dried without any heating damaging the fabric and without mechanical stress.
