The self-emptying centrifuge drum is provided with a discharge channel 7 which is connected via a storage chamber 8 to the separating space 13. In this way, solids which are precipitated in the storage chamber 8 cannot cause the channel 7 to become blocked, the channel 7 is connected to an emptying bore 14 which is cleared when a piston slide valve 20 is actuated and thus permits the solids which have collected in the storage chamber 8 to be discharged. <IMAGE>
