The invention relates to a method for adjusting clutches in machines, especially printing machines, which are adjusted upon installation and have to be readjusted in the event of wear because of slip. The aim of the invention is to prolong the life of clutches and to increase the availability of machines, especially printing machines. According to the invention, the object of providing a method for adjusting clutches in which adjustment is performed by evaluating measurement data is achieved by the fact that the actual speeds of the input shaft and output shaft connected by a clutch are measured separately by pulse transmitters, the measured values are converted into pulses in pick-ups arranged at their outputs and compared in a first comparator and the differential pulse sequence is recorded in a counter and memory influenced by a control and indicated on an indication device or compared with a desired value of an input device in a second comparator and in the event of a deviation, converted in a warning device into an alarm signal or, in an automatic readjustment device for the clutch, into an actuating signal.
