In the case of a vehicle supporting structure (1), in particular for a bus (2), with a multiplicity of module compartments which when connected together determine the vehicle length of a certain type of vehicle of a vehicle series, vehicle-outer and vehicle-inner modules are matched to one another on the basis of the smallest basic module A, all of the outer modules (10) and inner modules (11) being divisible by A in an integral fashion. As a result, the demand for the smallest possible vehicle lengths with optimum seat spacings for cost-effective production of the vehicles with as few different separate parts as possible and as many identical parts as possible (high production piece numbers) is largely satisfied (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
