In a labelling device having a keyboard part for selecting the symbols to be printed and having a printing part which may be separate from the keyboard part and has a printing pen holder (1) which is movable in the direction of cartesian coordinates by means of two motors (30, 33) which are driven in accordance with the symbol to be drawn and are fastened in a stationary manner, the carriage (15) bearing the printing pen holder (1) being mounted on two parallel guide rods (18, 19) so as to be movable by a motor (30) in the direction of one coordinate along said guide rods, and the printing pen holder (1) being movable by the other motor (33) in the direction of the other coordinate in relation to the carriage (15), one of the guide rods (18, 19) is coupled, so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis, to the motor (33) for the movement of the printing pen holder (1). Provided between this guide rod (18) and the printing pen holder (1) is a coupling (10) for converting the rotary movement of the guide rod (18) into a displacement movement of the printing pen holder (1). <IMAGE>
