PURPOSE:To make a display easy to read without forming any stripe pattern in a display window by arranging a plate or film type light diffusing member between the rear surface of a display part and a light emitting element in a light source for lighting. CONSTITUTION:The diffusion plate 12 is arranged between the rear surface of the display part 2 and the light source 3A for lighting and a protecting and diffusing film 13 wherein only an area 13a of specific extent facing a light emitting element 7 is constituted as a complete diffusion transmission surface and an incomplete diffusion transmission surface is fixed on the tip surface of the light shield wall 10 of the light source 3A for lighting. Then luminous flux emitted by the light emitting element 7 is transmitted through the protecting and diffusing film 13 and diffusing film 12 and then incident on the display part 2. Consequently, there is not any large difference in incident luminous flux density at each point in the display window of the display part 2, and a viewing trouble phenomenon such as checkered stripes is eliminated.
