PURPOSE:To constitute a sensor without any complicate assembling operation by forming a step between part of the tip of each of two ferrules and the other tip part, and making the projection parts of the steps abut on each other at the part of a groove formed in an adapter. CONSTITUTION:The ferrules 17a and 17b to which the tips of optical fibers 11a and 11b are fixed are so treated that part of each tip and the other tip part have a step, and the ferrules are inserted from both sides of the hollow hole 18 of the adapter 15 so that both projection parts abut on each other at the part of the groove 19 of the adapter 15. Then, the shielding plate 14 fixed to a temperature sensing member 13 such as shape memory alloy is inserted into the gap of the ferrule abutting part formed of recessed parts of the steps formed atop of the ferrules 17a and 17b. Consequently, the specific gap is provided between the optical fibers 11a and 11b to align their optical axes with each other, and the shielding plate 14 inserted into the gap (19) is moved with temperature by using the temperature sensing member 13 to pass and cut off light between the fibers 11a and 11b, thereby obtaining the operation of a temperature sensor.
