PURPOSE:To reduce the passage loss of light and to assemble an optical temperature sensor nearly without any adjustment by aligning the optical axes of two optical fibers with each other by using a V groove and operating a movable member which moves the tip parts of the optical fibers out of the groove by using shape memory alloy. CONSTITUTION:The outer peripheries of the optical fibers 8a and 8b are plated 14 with metal partially and the fibers are fixed in the V groove 9 by soldering 15. The tip of the fiber 8a is put opposite the fiber 8b and pressed in the groove 8 by a leaf spring 13. Thus, the optical fibers 8a and 8b are made to about on each other by using the groove 9 to align their optical axes with each other. Then a coil 12 made of shape memory alloy is compressed by a coil spring 11 at room temperature to press the movable member 10 down, so light is transmitted from the fiber 8a to the fiber 8b. When the ambient temperature rises above constant temperature, the coil 12 generates a force for restoration to its original shape to press the movable member 10 up and compress the spring 11. Then the tip of the movable member 10 projects upward to press the spring 13 and fiber 8a up, so the transmission of the light between the fibers 8a and 8b is cut off.
