PURPOSE:To simply change an electrolytic treatment pass from stainless steel to common steel, by making possible to move both an electrode and a roller above the steel strip in an electrolytic treatment tank for stainless steel strip. CONSTITUTION:When the stainless steel strip subjected to be treated is changed to the common steel strip in the apparatus in which the scale on the surface is removed by passing the stainless steel strip 3 into the electrolyte contained in an electrolyte tank and electrolizing with the electrode provided above and below the strip, the electrode 4 above the strip 3 is moved to transverse direction with a pinion 8 by providing a rack. And a bearing 9 of the roller 7 holding the steel strip 3 is transported above the surface of the electrolyte 2 by driving a cylinder 10. Thus the stainless steel strip is simply changed with the common steel strip by pulling up the stainless steel strip 3 above the surface of the electrolyte 2 without cutting the stainless steel strip 3.
