PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and characteristics against repeated uses by using a specified azo compound as the electric charge generating material of a photosensitive layer to be formed on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains at least one of the azo compounds having quaterthiophene structure represented by formula I in which each of R1-R9 is H, halogen atom, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, allyl, aldehyde, acyl, carboxy, ester, carbamoyl, amino, alkylamino, arylamino, aryl, aralkyl, nitro, or cyano group; and A is a coupler residue, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be high in sensitivity and superior in characteristics against repeated uses. |
