NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [X is halogen; Y is -NR<2>- (R<2> is H or lower alkyl) or -O-; Z is lower alkylene; l is 0 or 1; R<1> is carboxyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl or group of formula II (R<3> is cyano; R<4> is benzoyloxy, etc.)]. EXAMPLE:dl-5-Bromo-6-(4-carboxy-N-methylanilino)-5-fluoro-5,6-dihydrou racil. USE:A carcinostatic agent. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting a compound of formula III (R<5> is lower alkanoyl) with a compound of formula IV in an inert solvent (e.g. ketone, ether, aromatic hydrocarbon, etc.) in the presence of an acid acceptor (e.g. potassium carbonate, pyridine, etc.) at room temperature-80 deg.C for 1-24hr.
