PURPOSE:To obtain excellent heat resistance for a long period of time without impairing the optical characteristics, more particularly light transmission of a plastic optical fiber by incorporating a specific heat resistance improving agent into said fiber. CONSTITUTION:Thioesters and/or phosphites are made of exist in the core component of a polymer which consists of an org. high-molecular polymer, has core-cladding structure and has the core component formed by copolymerizing 5-60wt.% methacrylate having an alicyclic hydrocarbon group of 8-20C and 95-40wt.% methyl methacrylate monomer. The plastic optical fiber having the excellent heat resistance is thereby obtd. without impairing the optical characteristics, more particularly, light transmission of the plastic optical fiber. |
