PURPOSE:To prevent possible measuring errors, by a method wherein absorbance of a mixed liquid of a sample and a reagent is measured to perform a chemical analysis and information thus obtained is referred to determine the propriety of measuring items to be covered in the subsequent operation. CONSTITUTION:A mixed liquid of a sample and a reagent is put into reaction tubes 12a-12g in a thermostatic cell 11. The absorbance thereof is measured with a measuring mechanism 16 sequentially to be recorded into a reaction tube memory 18, while the combination of undesired items is recorded into an interference item memory 19. For example, when LDH is to be measured as third round item of the reaction tube 12a, a control section 17 learns that the items in the operation one step before GPT and those in the two steps before LDH from the memory 18 and judges that these combinations are undesired from a memory 19. So, the control section 17 avoids the third measurement of LDH and, instead, measure item other than LDH of omits measurement with the reaction tube 12a. This allows the avoiding of items of such a combination that requires repeated use of the same reaction that requires repeated use of the same reaction tube for multiple measuring items, thereby eliminating measuring errors.
