PURPOSE:To obtain a position controller which is simple in mechanism and consists of a small number of components by eliminating a mechanism for setting a pawl previously. CONSTITUTION:A combination solenoid controller 20 controls a combination solenoid 21 so that a pawl 91 is separated from a ratchet wheel 85 prior to the start of the rotation of the ratchet wheel 85 for the start of a series of operations. The pawl 91 which stops a body 1 to be controlled at a specific position is driven by the combination solenoid 21, so the pawl 91 which returns the body 1 to be controlled to its original position is only separated from the ratchet wheel 85 by switching the excitation state of the combination solenoid 21, so no special setting mechanism is required. Consequently, the position controller which is simple in mechanism and consists of a small number of components is obtained.
