PURPOSE:To reduce the impact noise and impact force on release by opening and closing a solenoid valve installed in an oil piping for the hydraulic cylinder of the automatic releasing mechanism of a turning device for steam turbine to the opening and closing of a steam stop valve, hydraulic pressure in the piping, etc. CONSTITUTION:A driven gear 15 installed onto a turbine rotor and a motor 1 are connected through gears 4-14. A crank lever 16 which supports a clutch gear 14 is controlled by a hydraulic cylinder part A. A piston 19 is inserted into the cylinder 20 in the hydraulic cylinder part A, and pressurized oil is supplied and discharged through the hydraulic lines B, C, and D into the cylinder 20. A solenoid valve 31 in a meshing oil feeding line B is opened in the meshing operation. A relief valve 38 in the line D is opened according to the opening signal of a steam stop valve on start, and a relief valve 36 in the line C is opened when the line oil pressure rises and a pressure switch 34 operates.
