PURPOSE:To achieve a higher rescue rate, by a method wherein a high-speed frequency sweep radio wave is transmitted only for a specified time irrelevant to the operation of receiving pulse radar radio waves with the application of a power source and then, a radar transponder function is returned automatically. CONSTITUTION:In about several ten seconds after the application of a power source, a gate signal of logic '1' is introduced to an electronic switch 8 from a timer 21 and in the operation theory the same as a transponder, an electronic tuning microwave FM oscillator 10 and a saw-tooth wave voltage generator 11 are excited simultaneously to derive waveforms f' and g'. Now assuming that the minimum of the revolutions of a radar antenna is 10rpm, a high-speed frequency sweep wave g' is detected whenever the radio wave is received at the position of a radar selected to receive it and a warning tone is emitted to inform of a man overboard accident within a ship while radar transmission is started automatically if it is suspended. Upon the immediate start of radar observation, this apparatus being already switched over to a transponder function can provide a quick access to a victim.
