PURPOSE:To arbitrarily select a desired function by a user by providing a first storage means for storing a control instruction, and an input means for allowing a part or all of the storage contents of this first storage means to be rewritable by a peripheral equipment of the outside of a camera. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a camera 1 is provided with a camera element 2 for executing a camera operation, a control means 3 for controlling the camera element 2 in accordance with an encoded control instruction, the first storage means 4 for storing the control instruction, and an input means 5 for allowing a part or all of the storage contents of the first storage means 4 by a peripheral equipment 6 of the outside of the camera. Also, by connecting the peripheral equipment 6 to the camera 1, a user's desired camera function is stored in the first storage means 4 through the input means 5 from the peripheral equipment 6. In such a way, a necessary function only is selected from among plural functions and stored in the camera, and in accordance with a purpose of photographing, the function can be set freely.
