<p>PURPOSE:To ensure safety in running by providing a torque sensor having two displacement-electric signal conversion parts and deenergizing a motor and an electromagnetic clutch via the judgement of a control unit as abnormal when a deviation computed from the output of both torque sensors has exceeded the predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle is running, steering torque is measured from the output of the first and second displacement-electric signal conversion parts 3c and 3e of a torque sensor 3, using first and second steering torque measurement means 9a and 9b. Also, a vehicle speed 'V' is measured on the basis of a speed sensor 10, using a speed measurement means 9d. And when a difference between each measured steering torque has exceeded the predetermined value, a torque sensor abnormality judgement means 9c judges that the torque sensor 3 is abnormal, and in this case of judging abnormality, a motor current determination means 9f controls a motor current control means 9g and an electromagnetic clutch control means 9h, thereby de-energizing a DC motor 14 for assisting steering and an electromagnetic clutch 15 for transmitting the power of the DC motor 14 to a rack axis 6.</p> |
