PURPOSE:To prevent a useless retransmission by specifying to store the number of errors allowable on a transmitting station side, and comparing the specified value with the number of the errors on the way of transmission so as to decide whether or not a return should be executed in a FAX on a receiving station side. CONSTITUTION:By the operation of an operator on the transmitting station side, the specified number of errors P is previously stored in the storage means of a facsimile device (FAX) on the transmission station side and by setting the specified number of errors P in a control procedure signal after calling so as to transmit, the specified number of errors P is stored in the storage means of the FAX on the receiving station side. The FAX on the receiving station side compares the number of transmitted errors (e) of the picture signal with the specified number of errors P and answers the normality or the abnormality in the reception of the picture signals as the control procedure signal to the FAX on the transmitting station side. Thus, the receiving station side can fully understand and allow the received picture, so that absurdity such as the retransmission executed by the transmitting station side though there is no necessity of retransmitting, can be prevented.
