PURPOSE:To use a thin heating film to eliminate the ununiformity of the surface temperature in the lengthwise direction of a heating roll by forming a roll base material, on which the heating film is formed, so that its surface is rough in both end parts and is smooth in the center part. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a roll base material 1 on which a heating film 2 is formed is made rough in both end parts and is made smooth in the center part. The heat source of a heating body roll for fixing is Joule's heat(resistance)X(current)<2> generated by the heating film 2. That is, many recess and projection parts exist on both end parts and the length of the heating film 2 on both end parts is longer than that on the center part. Since the resistance is proportional to the length, the resistance is high in both end parts of the heating body roll 1 and is low in the center part, and the quantity of generated heat is large in both end parts and is small in the center part. Thus, heat is released from both ends and the temperature difference between both ends and the center is considerable because the roll consists of a hollow pipe and is supported by bearings or the like for the purpose of reducing the weight and the cost, but the surface temperature is uniformized. |
