PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance, durability and C/N ratio by providing a protective layer, intermediate layer consisting of a specific compsn., recording layer and further protective layer successively on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium 1 has the glassy substrate side protective layer 31 on the substrate 2, has the intermediate layer 4 thereon and is provided with a thin magnetic film layer 5 as the recording layer thereon. The glassy protective layer 35 on the rear side of the substrate is preferably provided on the layer 5. The intermediate layer 4 to be used contains the compd. of >=2 kinds of metals or semimetals and said compd. is >=2 kinds of oxides and/or nitrides; in addition, >=2 kinds of the metals or semimetals exist in the intermediate layer 4. Deterioration of the recording layer is thereby prevented and the good optical recording medium which has the excellent corrosion resistance, durability and C/N ratio and reduces film exfoliation, crack, initial warpage, etc., is thereby obtd. |
