PURPOSE:To linearly and easily adjust the optical axis by attaching and fixing a fiber support to a stem having a rigidity of a cap incorporating an optical semiconductor element. CONSTITUTION:An incident end-side part 15 of a fiber 14 is held in a fiber support 16. A collar part 17 of the fiber support 16 is pressed to a stem 18 of a cap 11 and a pressure is so applied that a gap is eliminated between them, and the optical axis is adjusted in this state. This state is kept to fix the collar part 17 of the fiber support 16 to the stem 18 of the cap 11 with YAG laser light by welding. Similarly, a peripheral edge part 20 of a cover 19 is fixed to the stem 18 of the cap 11 with YAG laser light by welding. Thus, the optical axis is linearly adjusted to easily and surely assemble a fiber module.
