PURPOSE:To attain the start/stop of a floating head without using the CSS system by using an actuator mechanism comprising a couple of bimorph piezoelectric elements formed on a thin plate beam structure load beam together with a self loading mechanism possessed in a negative pressure floating head. CONSTITUTION:The thin plate beam structure load beam 1 with a piezoelectric element 5 adhered thereto is effectively of a couple of bimorph structures and since the tips are coupled by a binder 4, the assembly comprising a negative pressure utilizing floating head slider 3 and a tougue gimbal spring 2 fitted to a binder 4 is displaced in parallel with a recording medium face 6. Thus, accessing the recording medium face 6, the slider 3 is moved while keeping the state in parallel with the surface of the recording medium 6. Thus, the start/stop is applied to/from the recording medium without employing the contact start/stop (CSS) and excellent record/reproduction is attained.
