PURPOSE:To smooth torque, and to improve the performance of revolution by forming each magnetic pole for a permanent magnet plate to a cone shape. CONSTITUTION:A step motor is constituted of a rotor 2 with a large number of permanent magnet plates 1 alternately magnetized in the circumferential direction and a stator 5 with exciting coils 4 magnetizing pole teeth 3. The permanent magnet plate 1 is magnetized in the thickness direction and magnetized so that different magnetic poles are shaped alternately in the circumferential direction, and formed in chevrons in which the central sections of magnetic poles N, S are shaped in tops and the adhjacent sides in skirts. The permanent magnet plates 1 are fixed to a bush 6, and a shaft 7 is penetrated to the center of the bush. Said stator 5 is formed to a box shape by first and second housings 8-9. Accordingly, gaps among the pole teeth 3 and the magnetic poles of the permanent magnets 1 are varied by the revolution of the permanent magnets 1, thus smoothing torque at each step of the rotor 2 by the change of reluctance.
