PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material having good color-forming properties, shelf stability in a raw state, and stability of coloring image, by a method wherein a fluorane derivative having phthalide portions is used as an electron donative dye-precursor and a salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof is contained as an electron accepting compound. CONSTITUTION:In a recording material having a color-forming layer containing a colorless or light-colored electron donative dye-precursor and an electron accepting compound reacting with the electron donative dye-precursor to produce color, a fluorane derivative having at least two phthalide portions is used as the electron donative dye-precursor and a salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof is contained as the electron accepting compound. The salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof is preferably used in fine particle form, desirably being finely divided and dispersed for use to be 5 mum or less in particle diameter to obtain a coloring sensitivity. By the use of the electron donative dye-precursor and the salicylic acid derivative, a thermal recording material realizing a sufficient coloring density and a remarkably stable coloring matter and hardly generating change in color even under long-term light irradiation, heating, or moistening can be obtained. |
