PURPOSE:To obtain a processing cell for a unit structure type NC lathe which is cheap and is used for mass production by providing a spindle unit and a tool bed unit, and by arbitrarily arranging an R-shape NC lathe and an L-shape NC lathe which are provided with a control unit and a hydraulic power unit for the above-mentioned units, in a face-to-face relationship. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece is inserted in gripping pawls 9 in an R-shape NC lathe R, and is then gripped by means of a hydraulic power unit. Meanwhile, due to an NC program instruction a predetermined tool on a turret tool bed 12 is indexed, and the workpiece is subjected to a first machining process by feeing the spindle bed 6 and the tool bed 14 in the z- and X-axial directions, respectively. Then the operator O sends the workpiece to an L-shape NC lathe by means of a conveyer 21, and the side of the workpiece on which the first machining process is completed is inserted in gripping pawls 9 in the L-shape lathe E, and therefore, the workpiece is subjected to a second machining process. Thus, it is possible to obtain a rapid supply measure for a small NC lathe, coping with users needs at a relatively low cost.
