PURPOSE:To quickly cope with fixing with low energy consumption to stably obtain an image of high quality by forming a film layer on the outside surface of a fixing device, which is internally provided with a heat source, by anodic oxidation of aluminium and forming a film on the surface of this film layer and impregnating minute holes with a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:A fixing roller 14 has a heating heater like a halogen lamp in a hollow aluminium cylinder 42 and is heated up to a fixing temperature, and the surface temperature is detected by a temperature sensor and the temperature is controlled to keep the fixing temperature. An anodic oxidation layer 42 having 20-30mum thickness is formed on the surface of the hollow aluminium cylinder 42, and the surface and minute holes 44 of the anodic oxidation layer 43 are coated with a lubricant 41 like metal soap or metal sulfide. A pressure several times as high as the pressure of a conventional thermal fixing device is applied simultaneously with heating. Thus, the nip width is narrowed to 1/2-1/3 and the temperature of a fixing roller can be reduced by >=20 deg.C, and an image is quickly fixed with <=2/3 conventional energy. |
