PURPOSE:To change the responsiveness of a linear guide according to using conditions, by providing a pressure supporting member having a rolling element supporting portion for supporting rolling elements in such a manner as to be movable in the direction of a rail, and connecting a driving means for moving the pressure supporting member with the rolling element supporting portion. CONSTITUTION:A pressure supporting member 21 has a rolling element supporting portion such as a ball supporting portion 9a for supporting rolling elements such as balls 10. The pressure supporting member 21 is movable in the direction of a rail 7 such as in the direction of arrows L and M. The rolling element supporting portion 9a is provided with a driving means 29 for moving the pressure supporting member 21 which means 29 includes a piston rod 22, a piston plate 23, a spring 27, an oil chamber 29, etc. With this arrangement, movement of the pressure supporting member 21 in the direction of the rail 7 allows a pre-load between each rolling element 10 and the rail 7 to be arbitrarily changed. Accordingly, the responsiveness of a linear guide 6 may be changed according to using conditions. |
