PURPOSE:To permit formation of plural different non-film forming regions with a piece of mask by using a mask made of a shape memory alloy as the mask for forming the non-film forming regions at the time of forming thin films for recording layers, etc., on a substrate for an information carrier disk. CONSTITUTION:The shape memory alloy sheet 10 which is an Ni-Ti alloy sheet or the like and of which the shape changes largely at about the martensite transformation temp. is stuck by a spring sheet 11 for biasing onto a disk substrate 12 in order to form the non-film forming region in the outer peripheral part of the disk substrate 12 at the time of forming the films for recording in two stages onto the disk substrate. The sheet 10 is held in tight contact with the substrate 12 by the spring force of the sheet 11 to cover the prescribed non-film forming region at the temp. below the martensite transformation temp. When the next film forming treatment is carried out at the temp. above the martensite transformation temp., the sheet 10 warps upward from the substrate 12 surface by overcoming the spring force of the sheet 11 and the non-film forming region changes automatically. At least two kinds of the non-film forming regions are thus formed on the substrate by a sheet of the mask 10 made of the shape memory alloy.
