PURPOSE:To obtain a dense and high-strength polycarbodiimide resin, outstanding in heat resistance and flame-retardancy, by heating, under increased pressure, an organic polyisocyanate using a catalyst accelerating conversion of isocyanate into carbodiimide. CONSTITUTION:The objective polycarbodiimide resin can be obtained by heating (pref. at 120-150 deg.C), under a pressure (pref. >=90kg/cm<2>), of an organic polyisocyanate (e.g., tolylenediisocyanate) using a catalyst accelerating conver sion of isocyanate into carbodiimide (e.g., 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-phosphorene-1- oxide).
