PURPOSE:To prevent any trouble due to improper use of paper from occurring, by installing a device which writes the information on an outer surface of a paper feed cassette when it comes to a paper empty, reading this fact, and prohibiting any image forming action. CONSTITUTION:In a paper feed cassette 1, there is provided with a blank part where a bar code 12 displaying types of the paper housed inside and a black strip 13 showing service sheet numbers in succession to an initial position setting black strip 13a, at the side 11 of a body 3. And, if the paper feed cassette 1 is attached to a device body 2, a reading device 22 reads information on storage paper 5 from the bar code 12, and another reading device 23 reads length of the black strip 13 from the initial position setting black strip 13a, detecting the service sheet numbers, namely, the remaining sheet numbers with the length of the black strip 13, and it interpolates the black strip 13 with a writing device 30 of a heat transfer system or the like at each paper feeding, by paper feed starting. Therefore, if the black strip 13 is interpolated up to the length showing a paper empty, any image forming action is prohibited. Thus, even if one tries to supply the paper to an empty cassette and use it, it is prohibited.
